ABOUT US

Hornblower Tea garden is a beautiful cliff top cafe based in the grounds of the Old Foghorn Station in Whitby. The property was built in 1858 and was originally a lighthouse. At this time the two lighthouses worked side by side. It was not until 1904 that it was decided that one lighthouse was sufficient and it became a foghorn station. The same original foghorns are still on the property today. The foghorns sounded until 1988 when it was decided they were no longer needed due to the navigational aids now on boats.

Hornblower Tea garden is situated on the Cleveland Way footpath between Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay just after Saltwick Bay. Unfortunately due to our location the tea garden can only be accessed via the Cleveland Way footpath as there is no road access. Whether you are walking the length of the Cleveland Way or just out for a stroll with the family, our tea garden is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the beautiful views of the Yorkshire Coast. We serve a selection of homemade cakes, scones, sandwiches, paninis and soups.
